U.S. officials indicate that small-scale "border movements" into Lebanon to target Hezbollah positions have begun or are imminent.

Israel has not yet fully decided on a ground operation but is prepared for one if necessary.

The aim is to allow displaced Israelis to return home.

U.S. officials had minimal notice before Hassan Nasrallah's assassination, which caused concern about potential hostile responses.

Despite ongoing military actions, diplomacy is seen as the only viable long-term solution.
