Reno's criticism wasn't light—it was strong, very strong, even rabid at times. While he championed Atiku Abubakar’s campaign, Reno also pursued the truth with relentless fervor, even when it threatened to shake his own beliefs. In what could only be described as a self-funded fact-finding journey, Reno sought to verify the widespread allegations against Tinubu regarding his academic credentials. Many expected him to uncover incriminating evidence that could serve as a final nail in the coffin for Tinubu. Instead, Reno found that Tinubu did indeed graduate from the institution. What makes this particularly noteworthy is that Reno wasn’t ashamed to publish his findings and offer a public apology to Tinubu—a rare and commendable trait among political critics.

This sets Reno apart from typical critics, especially those who are driven more by personal vendettas than by the pursuit of truth. Sadly, some individuals whom Tinubu had previously helped in their political careers, and who owed much of their success to him, were busy spreading fake news. They even circulated content from secessionist groups like IPOB to embarrass the Nigerian President. Shockingly, this behavior wasn’t limited to the opposition; even some members of the APC campaign council joined in spreading falsehoods. Such actions are a betrayal not only to Tinubu but also to the values of loyalty and integrity in politics.

After the election, as the dust settled and opposition supporters of Obi and Atiku cried foul, Reno once again showed his commitment to fairness. He analyzed the reasons behind Tinubu's victory and offered his congratulations. What was surprising, however, was the number of people within the APC ranks who were quick to echo allegations of rigging—despite being on the winning side. Some of these voices even belonged to those who had lost their expected political patronage after Tinubu’s win, fueling baseless propaganda.

In moments like these, it becomes clear that having genuine, principled individuals in your corner is invaluable. A serious politician must recognize that those who stand by you only because of their personal expectations are far more dangerous than any external enemy. On the other hand, a critic who is willing to retract their allegations when faced with contrary evidence can be a powerful ally. This is why Reno’s integrity shines brightly. Rather than surround oneself with betrayers and opportunists, it is far better to embrace a converted critic who respects the truth above all else.

At a time when some members of the APC are more concerned about their own personal interests than the progress of Nigeria, Reno continues to advocate for a better country. He is out there, proudly representing Nigeria, exposing the divisive antics of IPOB, while others waste time fussing over their political spoils.
