The Nigerian government has officially implemented the new national minimum wage and salary adjustments for September 2024. These changes affect a wide range of government employees, including staff in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), retired Heads of Service, Permanent Secretaries, the Nigeria Police, the Military, Paramilitary, and Tertiary Institutions.
Key Highlights of the September 2024 Salary Payment:
MDA Count: 592 MDAs are affected by the salary payments this September.
Staff Count: 1,236,824 employees are included in the salary payments.
Total Amount Disbursed: A total of ₦334,925,372,928.14 has been allocated for salary payments.
Implementation of the New National Minimum Wage
This September, the new national minimum wage, as approved by the President, has been implemented. This is a significant step towards improving the welfare of government employees across various sectors, including MDAs, the Nigeria Police, and the Military.
Salary Adjustments for Specific Salary Scales
In addition to the minimum wage, salary adjustments have been made for employees on specific salary scales:
CONPSS (Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure): 35% salary adjustment.
CONRAISS (Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure): 35% salary adjustment.
CONPASS (Consolidated Paramilitary Salary Structure): 25% salary adjustment.
These adjustments reflect the government's commitment to enhancing the earnings of public service employees.
New MDA: Federal University Teaching Hospital Wukari
A new Ministry, Department, or Agency (MDA) has been added to the payroll this month— the Federal University Teaching Hospital Wukari. This institution employs 239 staff members, with a gross salary allocation of ₦52,322,098.82 for September 2024.
